Coach Appiah shuts Black Stars door on Kevin-Prince Boateng

Following his damaging comments about Black Stars coach, Kevin Prince Boateng will not be returning to the team anytime soon according to the Coach Kwesi Appiah.

According to the coach who was responding to a question about whether or not he was going to recall the troubled midfielder for future assignments, he answered in the negative adding that he wants to keep the team from further ‘polluting’ the minds of the younger guys in the team.

“Managing the egos of players is a very difficult job. But when you realize the attitude of a player has become a distraction to the team, then you must wield the axe,” the coach mentioned.

“On the specific issue of Kevin-Boateng, I will say that for now, he’s not part of my plans. We have to look at the younger players who have shown tremendous commitment to the national team and work with them.”

The coach, who has been given the nod by the Executive Committee of the Ghana Football Association, is expected to be in charge of the Stars throughout the qualifiers for the Nations Cup as well as future tournaments.

As it stands now, the former Portsmouth and AC Milan midfielder will have no option but concentrate on Club activities at Schalke and forget about the Black Stars, a team that helped put his ailing career back on track as he was signed on by AC Milan soon after his exploits at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.

Kevin it will be recalled made some derogatory comments about the Ghana coach labeling him as incompetent and lacking the technical knowledge to lead a football team like Ghana.
