Lartey and Omar qualify for boxing quarter finals

The two Black Bombers earned victories on Sunday to advance to the last 8 of Lightweight boxing at the Commonwealth Games.

Jesse Lartey edged closer to the medal zone of boxing at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games after winning his round of 16 fixture on Sunday following his round of 32 victory on Saturday.

The Ghanaian is through to the quarter finals of the men’s 60kg event after securing a unanimous decision over Rwanda’s Olivier Nshingiro. The judges scored the bout 30:27 over the three rounds, meaning Lartey won every round.

Same was the story for another boxer on Team Ghana’s Black Bombers, Abdul Omar who defeated Junior Kauko Raka to qualify for the quarter finals in the flyweight division.
