I’ll remain Black Stars captain till retirement – Gyan

Asamoah Gyan World

Gyan

The Shanghai SIPG attacker has insisted he will captain the Black Stars until he goes on retirement.
Gyan having been appointed the General skipper of the senior National team back in 2012 has undergone several criticisms with many questioning his leadership qualities.
The 30-year-old has been compared with previous captains of the National team.
Despite leading the Black Stars to two Cup of Nations appearances and one FIFA World Cup, Gyan has gone down to become the most capped Black Stars player of all time with 95 appearances.
He also holds the record as the highest scorer for the Black Stars with 48 goals.
The former Sunderland forward was close in making history as the first captain in more than two decades to lead the Black Stars team to an African Cup of Nations trophy after reaching the finals of the 2015 edition of the competition only to lose on penalties to the Ivory Coast.
The former Al Ain goal poacher says he will captain his native country until he retires.
“I will remain captain of the team (Black Stars) till I retire”, Gyan said.
“If you’re captain you have to tolerate certain things in the camp because once you are a leader, everybody can tell you whatever they feel to say”,
“But as a leader you have tolerate all these things and make sure you gather all the boys and have couple of meetings then you move on”,
“Being a captain I have to exercise patience and use what I learnt from the previous captains to exhibit to the team”,
“If you look at the team, almost 80% of the players are young and upcoming so with my experience I have to what I have to do as a captain”
The former Udinese and Rennes forward made his debut in 2003 when he came on to replace Isaac Boakye in a World Cup qualifier against Somalia, a game he scored in the process.
