GAA offers chances for local athletes towards Brazil 2016

The Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) schedule for 2016 will offer local- based athletes 11 qualification events to meet the standards required to participate in the 2016 Olympic Games in Brazil.
The GAA schedule of local competitions, which include five National Open Championships, five National Championship Circuits, as well as the Grand Prix, was released last Monday and designed to offer local athletes opportunities to qualify for the Olympics, which starts on August 5.
The local athletics season is scheduled to start on February 13 with the National Open Championship One in Kumasi before moving to Bolga on February 27 for the National Championship Circuit Two.
Two National Open Championships will take place in Accra on March 5 and April 2, followed by the National Championships Circuit in Koforidua on March 19.
The third National Championships Circuit will take place in Sekondi on April 16 after which Kumasi and Accra will host the National Open Championships IV (April 30) and National Championships Circuit IV (May 14) respectively.
Cape Coast is slated to host the final three events on the calendar with the National Open Championships and National Championships Circuit taking place on May 28 and June 18 respectively, while the Grand Prix will be honoured over two days on June 24/25.
