Sports journalists urged to promote national federations

As part of a fulfilment of his campaign promise, the President of the Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) have urged Ghanaian sports journalists to promote National Federations by publicising their activities.

He said one of the ways to make Ghanaians aware of existing disciplines and attracting the corporate bodies is by promoting them in the various media platforms.

This was made known after the GOC released a list of media persons who have been attached to the various National Federations to assist in their publicity.

Mr Nunoo Mensah explained that these persons attached to the Federations were not going to replace existing PROs but rather augment the Federation’s effort in developing the sport.

Below are the various National Federations and their media representatives;

The Ghana Amateur Boxing Federation (GABF) will have Theophilus Armah and Prince Dornu-Leiku while the Ghana Athletics Association (GAA) also have Christine Dzaka and Elizabeth Yawson with Badminton Association of Ghana (BAG) having Ebenezer Amuzu and Albert Narteh.

Patrick Akoto and Yaw Mintah have been attached to Basketball while Owireku Amofa and Desmond Decker preach Baseball with Matilda Domedo and Isaac Wallace for Beach Soccer. Clement Osei and Isaac Asempah were also attached to Bodybuilding.

The Ghana Chess Association (GCA) had Bernard Sekyi and Herbert Boakye-Yiadom while Michael Okuley and Prince Ayim Brown were attached to Cricket with Dennis Moore and Immortal Agyakwa Acheampong were attached to Cycling.

Ghana Fencing Association had Emmanuel Asante and Dora Badu while Seidu Adamu and Kofi Adounum had Golf, Abdul Haruna and Nana Yaw Opoku were given Handball with George Ernest Asare and Edna Quansah going for Hockey.

George Addo Jnr and Jacob Narh Nortah were attached to Judo while Dennis Mepuri and Sintim Koree had Karate-Do with Kwame Larweh and Douglas Sekyi promoting National Sports For All. Austin Baah and Annette Serwaa Yeboah were also attached to Netball.

Professional Boxing had Naa Darkua Dodoo and Andrew Nortey while Rowing and Canoeing also had John Phil Quartey and Michael Nsiah-Otchere with Rugby having Theophilus Sampah and Gabriel Obu.

Scrabble had Ransford Boakye and Patrick Mantey while Philip Otuo and Dickson Boadi were attached to Special Olympics with Bernard Neequaye and Daniel Koranteng affiliated with Shooting. Swimming had Cecil Stanley Nii Teiko Tagoe and Baaba Tandoh.

Muftawu Adamu and Beatrice Laryea were affiliated with Table Tennis while Kojo Mensah Moshosho and Kweku Zurek had Taekwondo with Daniel Akorful and Nathaniel Attoh attached to Tennis.

Volleyball had Alex Anyankwah and Paul Agyemang while Weightlifting had Kweku Obeng and Romeo Oduro with Armwrestling having Sadick Adams and Michael Oduro. Triathlon also had Michael Abayateye and Samuel Addo.

Women in Sports Association of Ghana had Helga Goka and Nana Akua Amankwah while Kickboxing had Frank Agyam and Amisty Nobo.
