Nadia Eke fails to make a jump, exits Tokyo 2020

Triple jumper – Nadia Eke on Friday became the fifth Ghanaian athlete to exit the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games after three unsuccessful attempts in the women’s triple jump event at the Tokyo Olympic Stadium.

The 2016 Africa triple jump champion failed to muster a single legal jump having stepped on the red line in all three attempt, scoring an X in the final analysis.

Nadia Eke [28yrs] was Ghana’s flag bearer at the opening ceremony of the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games which was rescheduled to 2021 due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Columbia University graduate announced her decision to quit the sport after the Tokyo Games.

Nadia becomes the 5th Ghanaian athlete to exit the games at the preliminary stage following earlier exits for boxer Shakul Samed, and swimmers Abeiku Jackson and Unilez Takyi, and judoka Kwadjo Anani.
