Ga Mantse King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II endorses Accra Inter-City Marathon

The Ga Mantse, His Royal Majesty King Tackie Teiko Tsuru II, has endorsed the first ever Accra Inter-City Marathon (Ga Homowo Marathon), fixed for Saturday, July 30.

The 21-kilometer race, which is part of the activities marking the annual Ga Homowo Festival, would commence at Spintex Road (Papaye) and end at Mantse Agbona in James Town.

His Royal Majesty, King Tacki Teiko Tsuru endorsed the event, when the organisers – Medivents Consult and one of their major sponsors SES HD Plus paid a courtesy call on him and members of the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) at his palace in Accra on Monday.

He called on the organisers to ensure a successful organization of the event since the entire capital would be looking forward to one of the best marathons in Accra.

King Teiko Tsuru II added that the Homowo Festival, represents peace, unity. love and merry making, just as sports and pleased with its addition to the list of activities marking the festival.

He commended the headline sponsors, HD+ for supporting the event and encourage other sponsors to support the event.

Nii Ayi Bonte II the Gbese Manste and a member of the GTC, said sports promotes peaceful cohesion and was glad that athletes from Kenya and other parts of the continent have registered to participate.

“It means our festival has attracted international attention and we are grateful for that,” he added.

Mrs. Adelaide Abbiw-Williams Marketing Manager of HD+ thanked the Ga Manste for his support and promised a wonderful Marathon in the capital of Ghana.

The Accra Inter-City Marathon also known as the “The Ga Homowo Marathon” is part of the activities endorsed by the Ga Traditional Council (GTC) as part of activities celebrating the 2022 Homowo Festival.

Over 1000 athletes are expected to participate in the race, which is the first of its kind in the country.
