Countdown to Yaounde 2023 Africa Boxing Championship: HOW IDI AMIN KO’d HIS COACH

As we look ahead to the richest ever boxing event to be staged on African soil from July 25 to August 6 in Yaounde, Cameroon, the Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC) Communication Department will bring you a variety of stories to whet your appetite.

Coming soon is the day President Idi Amin shocked Kampala by challenging the national coach Grace Seruwagi to a fight during the opening ceremony of the 1974 Africa Championships in Kampala.

“Amin took everybody by surprise, there was excitement and apprehension, suppose our coach KO’d Amin what will happen to him,” recalls Vicky Byarugaba, a member of Uganda’s crack team that retained the Africa title.
