Ghanaian defender Philip Awuku signs for Turkish club Manisa FK

Ghanaian defender Philip Gameli Awuku has officially joined Manisa FK, a club in the Turkish second division, it is official.

The 24-year-old signed a one-year contract with the club, with an option to extend for another year.

Awuku played for Tuzlaspor, also in the Turkish second tier last season

Awuku’s move to Manisa comes after he left Tuzlaspor earlier this summer as a free agent.

Awuku began his professional career in Ghana with Sege, Ada based Division 2 side, Okor Nowomi FC before moving to Okyeman Planners, also in Ghana from where he transfered to Yeni Malatyaspor, a club in Turkey’s Super Lig, for the 2020-2021 season.

Gameli puts pen to paper for Manisa

After two seasons with Malatyaspor, he transferred to Tuzlaspor for the 2022-2023 season, where he quickly established himself as a key player.

Throughout his career, Awuku has played in 83 official matches and scored four goals, showcasing his defensive skills and occasional scoring ability.

His addition to Manisa is expected to strengthen their backline as they aim for success in the upcoming season.

This signing marks an important step in Awuku’s career, and he expressed his happiness at joining Manisa, looking forward to contributing to the team’s ambitions.
