Black Stars beat Comoros to seal World Cup ticket

Ghana secured a 1-0 victory over Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, October 12, 2025, confirming their spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Mohammed Kudus scored the decisive goal in the 47th minute, sending the Ghanaian fans into euphoria.

The win marks Ghana’s fifth appearance at the FIFA World Cup, with the team finishing top of Group I on 25 points from 10 matches. Comoros, who had previously beaten Ghana 1-0 in their first encounter, put up a strong fight but ultimately fell short.

Head Coach Addo named a starting-line up that saw the return of Alidu Seidu as a right winger. Also in the line up was France based defender Ebenezer Annan who played as a left winger.

He opted for a three-back with Jonas Adjetey, Alexander Djiku and Mohammed Salisu as Thomas Partey and Kwasi Sibo played in midfield. Mohammed Kudus, Antoine Semenyo and Jordan Ayew led the lines for Ghana.

The match was a closely contested affair, with both teams creating scoring opportunities. However, Kudus’s clinical finish in the 2nd minute of the second half proved to be the difference-maker.

The midfielder’s impressive form in the qualifiers has been a key factor in Ghana’s success.

The Black Stars will now join other African nations, including Morocco, Senegal, and Tunisia, at the world’s biggest football stage, which will be held in the United States, Canada, and Mexico in June 2026.
