PFAG’s second edition of ‘Battle of he Queens’ rocks Kumasi on Saturday

The Professional Footballers Association of Ghana (PFAG) in collaboration with ex Black Queens players are organising the second edition of the testimonial match dubbed the ‘Battle of the Queens’ which is scheduled to come off on Saturday, 4th December 2021; 3:00pm at the Bantama Kookoase Astro turf in Kumasi.

The annual game which is aimed at acknowledging the achievements of the ex national team players over the years and to encourage the girl child to develop interest in football is attracting interests from stakeholders of football.

It’s also meant to promote women football ahead of the 2021-2022 league season.

Several top guests from the media, ex footballers and current Black Queens players are expected to grace the occasion.

PFAG board member, Gifty Appiah states the annual testimonial match is here to stay.

“Battle of the Queens is here to stay because it is a beautiful platform to celebrate our retired players as well as the active players getting a rare chance to interact with their idols. It’s a laudable initiative and must be commended,” she said.

Elizabeth Addo, who is also a board member of PFAG added: “Personally,I am excited about this game because it gives our former legends the opportunity to come together once more to showcase their talents whilst giving the fans the opportunity to watch these legends.

“I believe this game will give the upcoming 2021-2022 Women’s Premier League the needed publicity and promotion it deserves. This is our little way of giving back to the very league that made us who we are today.”

The 2021/2022 Women’s Premier League (WPL) is scheduled to kick off on the weekend of Friday, December 17 to 20, 2021 across the country.

The first round of the league will end on Sunday, February 20, 2022 while the second round commences on the weekend of March 4-6, 2022.
