Cameroon’s AFCON security readiness comes under scrutiny …how safe are the Black Stars?

Ghana's Black Stars – Slated for the Nations Cup in Cameroon

Former Ghana International, Laryea Kingson is confident the Black Stars have enough quality to sail through the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying play-offs.

Ghana will be drawn against one of Algeria, Senegal, Morocco, Nigeria or Tunisia in the final round of the World Cup Qualifiers to be played in March next year.

And speaking to Accra based Citi FM ahead of the draw, Kingson is of the opinion that the Black Stars will be able to deliver when it matters most and qualify for the global showpiece.

“One thing I have noticed about Ghana is that when it matters most, that’s when they deliver,” the former Heart of Midlothian winger said.

“When they were going to play South Africa in the last game, a lot of people didn’t have belief in the team.

“We know how to play these type of games, we have been there before and I think we have a solid management, that have been there before.

“Milovan Rajevac has taken us to the World Cup before, so he is capable of qualifying us once again.

“I know we are going to meet top teams on the continent in the play-offs but they also have a lot of respect for us and we need to take advantage of that,” Laryea Kingston added.

The Black Stars of Ghana will know their opponent for the play-off when the draw is conducted next month.

It is however still unclear whether the final play-offs will be played on home and away basis as pressure keeps mounting on FIFA to adopt a one-off approach in the World Cup host nation, Qatar.
