Journalist Rustum Gameli Senorgbe to referee Hearts versus Kotoko Super Clash

Chief Executive Officer of Ghana Premier League debutants, Bibiani Gold Stars, Kwasi Adu has commended class one referee, Rustum Gameli Senorgbe for his performance in their Match Day 18 encounter against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday, February 27.

The young and energetic CEO who has been with the Gye Nyame lads for 16 years took to his Facebook page and wrote “Reference Chelsea (1) vs Goldstars (0) – Another Classic performance from Referee Rustum Senorgbe, there is life in him – lets support him.”

The Ho based referee who was also in the centre for the recent league meeting between giants, Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko in the Super Clash saw many applauding him across all social media platforms for his splendid performance in the 0-0 drawn game between the titans of Ghana football Hearts on February 20 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

In an interview days after Goldstars lost 1-0 to Berekum Chelsea, Kwasi Adu, who started work for the Golden Boys as an accountant backed what he wrote on Facebook.

“You know some venues are very intimidating and I will not leave out my own, the Duns Park. You can feel the heat from the supporters and this referee was able to gather courage to handle the game such that you don’t see both home and away players and officials rushing on him, it sends a very good signal about the referee,” Mr. Adu said.

“You could see that in all controversial situations, he picked it on point. He wasn’t lazy, his movements were on point and the game was flowing as well, so such referee, we need to encourage him to rise to the very top,” he continued.

He added: “How many club officials have you seen lost a game and come out to applaud a referee? We all want Ghana football to grow and majority of issues that affect the game especially in marketing is as a result of poor refereeing decisions. So, we must encourage the good ones. On any day and any time, I will vouch for him for the FIFA badge, because the courage he had for the Super Clash was something that anybody can comprehend. I know when he gets there, he will not disappoint Ghana.”

Rustum, is a broadcast journalist and a member of the Sports Writer’s Association of Ghana (SWAG).
