Akufo-Addo gets perfect birthday gift as Black Stars slay Super Eagles to qualify for 2022 FIFA World Cup

President of Ghana Nana Akufo-Addo has been presented with a memorable gift on his 78th birthday following the Black Stars qualification to the Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup.

It was a scrappy affair in Kumasi as the Black Stars hosted Nigeria in the first leg of the heavyweight World Cup qualifier playoff series, and it ended deadlocked at 0-0.

Ghana were brimming with confidence ahead of the return encounter after their masterful display at the Baba Yara Stadium five days ago.

Thomas Partey’s early strike was cancelled by Watford’s William Trost-Ekong from the spot.

Nigeria dominated the game but Ghana showed grit to pick the sole ticket to the global football fiesta in Qatar.

The victory came at the right time as it’s on a day where the first gentleman of the land is celebrating his birthday.

The World Cup in Qatar will be Ghana’s fourth appearance.
