Black Meteors whip Egyptian giants Zamalek in pre-AFCON friendly

Ghana’s U23 side, the Black Meteors have blown off Egyptian giants Zamalek in a friendly match on Tuesday afternoon as part of their preparation for the u23 AFCON.

A stupendous first half performance gave the Meteors a massive leap in the game with all five goals in the game coming off before the break.

A hat trick from Emmanuel Yeboah and a 43rd minute strike from Emmanuel Apau showed how powerful the name Emmanuel will be for Ghana at the AFCON tournament.

Yeboah’s quest to first Ghana in front was successful in the 11th minute of the game when he broke the virginity of the game to set up a blistering start for the Meteors.

The Egyptian knights fought back to level the score just 5 minutes after Yeboah’s opener.

But the unstoppable CFR Cluj forward restored the lead for Ghana on the 25th minute mark with another brilliant finish.

As if that was not enough, Yeboah fired Ghana into a 2-goal lead by finishing his hat trick with 4 minutes to the break.

The dejected Zamalek side had no answers to Ghana’s attacking firepower as Apau added the fourth for Ghana with 2 minutes to draw the curtain on the first half.

The second half proved difficult for Ghana to get the back of the net again as the Zamalek side look to have provided cover for their porous defending.

Ghana managed the second half of the game avoiding any goal from Zamalek to finish the game with the 4-1 lead.

The game is the second for the Meteors in their build up to the U23 AFCON to be played in Morocco later this month.

Ghana had earlier crossed swords with the Egyptian U23 side in a game that ended in a 1-1 stalemate on Thursday.

The Meteors are expected to wrap up their preparations for the tournament and depart for Morocco in the coming days.
