IBA’s rebranded World Series of Boxing scheduled to relaunch in 2025

A well-known International Boxing Association product, the World Series of Boxing or WSB, is currently under a rebranding process to be launched as early as the first quarter of 2025. The announcement is followed by huge anticipation from athletes and fans alike, as it would revive one of the most exciting formats in the sport.

WSB will bring together the best amateur and professional boxers in a unique team-based competition. Unlike traditional boxing tournaments, the WSB features team matchups under professional rules. This format not only provided a platform for emerging talent but also delivered thrilling, high-stakes matchups that captivated fans worldwide.

IBA President, Umar Kremlev, expressed his enthusiasm for the WSB’s return. ‘The World Series of Boxing has always been a cornerstone for nurturing talent and providing boxers with invaluable experience. We are thrilled to bring back this prestigious event and give athletes the opportunity to showcase their skills on a global stage.’

The 2025 season promises to be a landmark event, with several key upgrades aimed at enhancing the competition. The WSB will introduce a revamped league structure, featuring several international teams competing in a round-robin format, followed by knockout stages. This format is designed to ensure more frequent and competitive bouts, increasing the stakes for every match.

IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts OBE shared his vision for the WSB’s future, stating ‘The return of the World Series of Boxing marks a new era for our sport. We are committed to delivering an unparalleled experience for athletes and fans. The WSB will not only reignite the passion for boxing but also set a new standard for excellence in competition. This is boxing like you’ve never seen before – more thrilling, more accessible, and more dynamic.’

The revival of the WSB comes at a time when the sport of boxing is experiencing a resurgence in popularity, with fans craving new and innovative formats. The 2025 season is poised to deliver on this demand, promising intense rivalries, dramatic storylines, and unforgettable moments in the ring.

As the world eagerly awaits the return of the World Series of Boxing, the IBA is confident that the 2025 season will not only rekindle the spirit of the original WSB but also elevate the sport to new heights. Boxing enthusiasts around the globe can look forward to a year of electrifying matchups and the emergence of new champions in this celebrated competition.
