Two gold and a silver in one night catapults Kenya to the 16th overall position as the East African distance running powerhouse reduced to ashes the rest of their competitors in Africa.
Kenya leads Africa with four gold, two silver and four bronze medals. Algeria (35) is a distant second with two gold and silver while third-placed South Africa (44) have one gold, two silver and two bronze.
Ethiopia (48) are fourth on one gold and two silver, Egypt and Tunisia at 50th overall are joint fifth each having a gold, silver and bronze.
Uganda (53) are sixth with a gold and silver followed by seventh-placed Morocco (59) on a gold and silver with Botswana (61) eighth with one gold.
Zambia and Cape Verde at 81st overall are ninth jointly.
Only 11 African countries have so far won medals in the Paris Olympics.
Nigeria, Cameroon, Ghana, Senegal, DRC, Tanzania, Rwanda, Congo, Mozambique, Malawi, Lesotho and Swaziland are some of the African countries returning home empty-handed the way they landed in Paris.
