Frederick Semenu Duvor and Julienne Afri Amzado emerged as the standout winners as MTN Ghana marked its 30th anniversary with a colourful CEO Invitational Golf Tournament at the Achimota Golf Club on Saturday.
Duvor topped the Men’s Group A competition with 39 points, finishing ahead of Isaac Asante and Kwame Boatfo, who both recorded 37 points, while Michael Agyer and Michael Gosney placed fourth and fifth respectively with 35 and 34 points.
Amzado dominated the Ladies Group A category with 39 points, followed by Princess Nkrumah-Boadu and Mary Agyeman Prempeh, both on 35 points.
In the other divisions, Yaw Mireku Jnr. won Men’s Group B with 45 points, ahead of Frederick Andre Feraille (41) and Nathan Lee-Williams Annobi (39), while Kous Louanges Mang took Ladies Group B with 38 points.
Kofi Mangesi won Men’s Group C on 40 points, edging Derrick Morgan on countback, while Kwadwo Appietu-Ankrah was third with 32. Elorm R. Akuash Bonney claimed Ladies Group C with 42 points, ahead of Berlinda Boateng (38) and Afi Yayra Dunyo (35).
In the Seniors Division, Jan Vogel won the men’s category with 39 gross, while Helen Appah topped the ladies with 44 gross.
The Boobie Prize went to Simran Oberoi in the men’s category with 22 gross and Christine Fuller among the ladies with 26 gross.
Auxiliary honours went to Rickie Hurtubise and Berlinda Dzifa Boateng for the men’s and ladies’ Longest Drive on Hole 17, while Dennis Addo and Mary Agyeman Prempeh won the men’s and ladies’ Closest to the Pin on Hole 18.
MTN Ghana Board Chairman, in his anniversary address, said the company’s three decades had been defined by resilience and consistency.
“Success comes from something deeper. It comes from consistency. It comes from judgment, from learning from mistakes, from recovering when things do not go according to plan, and, perhaps most importantly, from staying the course.”
Achimota Golf Club President also praised MTN’s contribution to Ghana’s digital landscape, noting that the company’s achievements had accumulated through relationships, trust and partnerships.
“Technology can connect devices. Networks can connect places. But ultimately, it is trust and relationships that connect people,” he said.
The tournament, which attracted golfers from across Ghana, featured an 18-hole competition and provided an opportunity for corporate leaders and golfers to network while celebrating MTN Ghana’s 30-year journey.
