Ghana cemented their place at the top of their group after edging to victory past Guinea on Wednesday in Tamale in the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying.
The Black Stars, making their debut at the Tamale Stadium took their point tally to 8 from four games with two more matches left in the Group E campaign as Maxwell Konadu’s side won 3-1.
Goals from Asamoah Gyan, Andre Ayew and Emmanuel Agyemang Badu sealed first win for Konadu, who is in temporary charge.
It could have been more but the visitors defended in numbers and also posed questions for the Ghana backline.
The Black Stars might not have dominated the game but they put an assured performance to keep their qualifying hopes for a place at next year’s finals in Morocco alive.
Captain, Gyan opened the scoring after 16 minutes to send the home crowd into wild jubilation connecting to goal a pass from Jordan Ayew.
However, 19 minutes after the opener, the Guineans were back in the game after drawing level from a freekick through Mohammed Yattara.
Ghana returned from the break determined to jump in front again and in the 57th minute, Gyan was felled into the box which presented Ayew with the opportunity to convert.
Agyemang Badu came off the bench in the closing minutes to notch the third goal in added on time.
