Algerian giants Jeunesse Sportive de la Saoura have secured a group stage qualification after defeating Ghana’s Hearts of Oak by 4-0 in the CAF Confederations Cup play-offs second leg held in Algeria to make the aggregate scoreline 4-2.
The Ghanaians won the first league at home by 2 goals to nil at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Hearts of Oak just needed to avoid defeat to penetrate but the Algerian side were hard to break.
The first half ended 2-0 through Abdeljalil Saad and Osama Belletreche of Saoura.
Belletreche pulled another goal into the net again for the Algerians to extend the lead to 3 just after the 48th minute in the second half.
Hearts of Oak tried exerting a lot of energy to have a consolation but the Algerians turned down the spirit of the ‘Rainbow Boys’ after making the scoreline 4-0 at the 88th minute to book the ticket for the next stage of the competition after the 90minutes.
Hearts of Oak will now focus on the Ghana Premier League and bounce back for a first win of the GPL season.
Hearts of Oak lifted both the Ghana Premier League and the MTN FA Cup after a splendid performance last season to represent Ghana in Africa.
