Bashir Ahmed drops 21 points in loss for Targu Jiu

American-Ghanaian Small Forward/ Shooting Guard Bashir Ahmed has registered another double digit scoring outing in another league loss.

The 29 year old played 34 minutes as a starter in Targu Jiu’s 67-86 loss to Craiova in Round 21 of the 2021-2022 Romanian Basketball League Regular Season.

6 foot 6 Inch Ahmed filled the stat sheet by registering 21 points, seven rebounds, two blocks and two steals and was one of only three Targu players to score in double figures.

Ahmed led Targu Jiu in scoring by converting eight of 12 two point shot attempts and five of nine free throw shot attempts; he however, missed all three shot attempts from three point range.

Since the departure of Forward Kevin Allen, Ahmed’s production has had an uptick on the back of attempting more shots and drawing more free throw opportunities.

Ahmed is averaging 11.6 points and 4.4 rebounds for the team that ranks 13th on the 16 team league standings with five wins in 20 games.

Ahmed played at St. John’s University before turning pro

Targu Jiu plays league leader Cluj Napoca next on February 28.
