President of the Association of African Sports Confederations (UCSA), Maj. Gen. Mohamed Ahmed Nasser Moustafa Kamal, is confident that the African Union (AU), Association of African Sports Confederations (UCSA), and Association of National Olympic Committees of Africa (ANOCA) will find a common ground to the misunderstanding between the parties.
Due to the impasse between the parties, some of them absented themselves from last month’s First Joint Technical Meeting held in Accra.
Key stakeholders have arrived in the country ahead of the scheduled meeting with the President of the Republic H.E. Nana Akufo-Addo, the Local Organising Committee, and the African Union.
Gen. Nasser remains confident of finding a solution to the impasse.
“We had this candid invitation to come and try to resolve whatever [differences] we have. Of course, we would like the Games to be one of the best and that is our [collective] aim and goal,” he told Accra2023ag.com.
“I’m sure that my dear colleague – the Hon. Minister of Youth and Sports – is also eager to have this issue resolved as soon as possible. We need the Games to be conducted with great success.”
I expect that after the end of the session, hopefully, there will be a resolution to everything through a successful dialog.”
Meanwhile, Dr. Decius Chipande, Maashal Nada Hamdy Aly, Elbannany Emad Mostafa Hamza, Kankindi Gloriose, Samate Cessouma Minata, Cisse Mariama Mohamed, Negm Namira Nabil Mohamed Elmahdy, Stanley Mutoya, Lina Paul Kessy, Ahmed Abouelgasim Hasim, Berraf Mustapha, Akki Iddriss, Gumel Habu Ahmed, and Joao Manuel Da Costa Alegre Afonso have all arrived in Accra for the all-important meeting scheduled for Monday, March 7, 2022.
