Ghana head coach Otto Addo has commended forward Jordan Ayew for his immense contribution in Black Stars’ emphatic victory over Madagascar on Wednesday night.
Ayew put in an outstanding performance to ensure Ghana recorded a resounding 3-0 win in the opening group game of the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifications.
Ajax midfielder Mohammed Kudus opened the scoring, Felix Afena-Gyan and substitute Osman Bukari got their first international goals to seal the victory at the Cape Coast stadium.
Addo who supervised of his very first victory since becoming coach of the Black Stars spoke highly of the Crystal Palace star after the match during the post-match press conference.
“Jordan played very well, he created numerous chances but their goalkeeper was excellent.” he said.
Ayew came close to scoring on four occasions but his efforts were prevented by the Madagascar goalkeeper Nina Razakanirina who had a stellar game.
The 30-year-old was handed the captain’s armband later on in the game following the substitution of his brother Andre Ayew who paved way for the introduction of Daniel-Kofi Kyereh.
Ghana go top of Group E after matchday one matches and will be facing Central African Republic in the next fixture on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at the Estadio 11 de Novembro in Luanda, Angola.
