2023 MTN Ashantifest Community Soccer kicks off Saturday, full fixtures revealed

Amakom will face Fante New Town in the opening match of the 2023 MTN Ashantifest Community Soccer tournament when Zone A kicks off the action this Saturday, June 17 at 9am at the Asem Boys School Park in Kumasi, the fixtures have revealed.

The other two sides in their zone, Asafo and Ejisu will then battle it out in the second game of match day one of the group stages of a competition that has now expanded to an unprecedented 16-team event following the successes of 2021 and 2022 which had just 8 and 12 competing sides respectively.

All four sides are expected to play each other on a points awarded system with the top two in each zone advancing to the quarter finals of the competition which will now cover two months featuring a total of 6 matches spanning two days per zone at this preliminary stage.

Each zone will take their turn to determine their two quarter finalists for the next four weekends in pursuit of the ultimate trophy and attached twenty thousand Ghana Cedis cash prize.

In the event, Amakom will take on Asafo in their second game whilst Fante New Town tackle Ejisu and it will be the other way round, Ejisu versus Amakom and Asafo versus Fante New Town in the third round of matches to draw the curtains down in zone A.

The full fixtures of Zone B

Zone B kicks off next week Saturday, June 24 when Dichemso play Ashtown and Aboabo take on Krofrom in the opening round at the Dichemso Otumfuor Park. As usual it continues with all four sides competling the round-robin format by close of second match day, Sunday June 25.

It will be same situation for Zones C and D when they kick of their group phase ties on 30 June to 1 July and 7-8 July at the State Girls Kokoase Park in Abrepo and Atonsu Astro Turf Park respectively.

Zone C

Zone C of course features defending champions, Tafo against hosts Abrepo, Bantama and Suame whilst Adum, Santasi, Kwadaso and the hosts Atonso slug it out in Zone D.
