World Athletics is seeking candidates for appointment as Board Members of the World Athletics Executive Board, as well as candidates for membership of three Executive Board Committees.
The Executive Board has responsibility for all decisions related to the business of World Athletics, including developing and reviewing the World Athletics Strategic Plan; adopting and monitoring the annual plan and budget; appointing and monitoring the Chief Executive; financial planning and controlling income and expenditure; identifying and managing risks; and developing internal controls, organisational policies, procedures and systems.
Three Appointed Executive Board Members will be selected based on merit and will be chosen to complement the skills, expertise, gender and other attributes of the five Ex-Officio Executive Board Members, and ensure that the Executive Board has the necessary skillsets and experience to deliver its responsibilities.
Executive Board Members are appointed for four years and current members can re-apply. Further information can be found in the applicant pack and application form in the World Athletics Library.
Those seeking to apply to be an Appointed Executive Board Member must complete and submit their application form to the Executive Board Appointments Panel via email to EB-candidates@worldathletics.org by the deadline on 15 August 2023.
The three Executive Board Committees seeking candidates for membership are:
- Audit & Finance Committee
- Risk Committee
- Remuneration Committee
For each committee, World Athletics is seeking to fill up to three positions. The remaining two positions will be filled by Executive Board Members following the World Athletics Election Congress in August 2023 and completion of the selection process for the Executive Board Appointed Members.
Membership of each Executive Board Committee will be for an approximate four-year term, namely from the date of appointment until the conclusion of the 2027 Election Congress. Position descriptions for each committee can be found in the World Athletics Library.
