Ghana have been paired with Mali, Madagascar, Central African Republic, Comoros and Chad in Group I of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. This was revealed during the official draw in Abidjan on Thursday, July 13, 2023.
Ghana are the only country with a World Cup appearance in this group having played at the Mundial on four occasions (2006, 2010, 2014 and 2022).
Winners of each Group will qualify for the FIFA World Cup™ 2026 with the four best runners-up (from the nine groups) will play in a CAF play-off tournament.
The winner of the CAF play-off will play then feature in the FIFA play-off tournament for a ticket to the competition set to be jointly hosted by USA, Canada and Mexico.
The Africa qualifying matches will take place over ten matchdays during the next two years: commencing 13-21 November 2023.
