Defending champion Rady Gramane (pictured) has no illusions on who win gold in the middleweignd division in this year’s Africa Championships in Yaounde, Cameroon.
“It’s me of course,” the ever cheerful Gramane with an infectious smile told AfBC Communications at Bole Airport in Addis Ababa as she prepared to board her flight to Yaounde – a four-hour journey to the Central African country.
“Not only am I aiming to retain my title I won last year in Maputo but most importantly win the 20,000 Dollars prize money for gold medallists. We thank the Africa Boxing Confederation for doubling up the prize money. That’s a job well done by our African body,” she said.
“Last year I was so happy to win 10,000 Dollars, I used part of it for my accountancy course and saved the rest to start building my own house,” Gramane revealed.
The southpaw Mozambican boxer is however wary of the formidable challenge from the North African countries.
“Morocco and Algeria are my tough, opponents, they have very good boxers,” said the 2022 World Championships bronze medallist.
