Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku has been named on the Sports Advisory Board of the University of Ghana, Legon.
The Membership of the Board represents a dynamic group of 18 individuals from the academia, the private sector and the football community.
The Advisory Board which is chaired by Pro Vice Chancellor of the University of Ghana, Professor Gordon A. Awandare and mandated to create a comprehensive sports plan that inspires participation from both students and staff across the University community, was inaugurated on Tuesday, August 22,2023.
Members of the Advisory Board are, Dr. Bello Bitugu- Director of Sports for the University of Ghana, Professor George Armah (Sports Management Committee – University of Ghana), Professor Joseph Osafo (Department of Psychology- University of Ghana), Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku (President of the Ghana Football Association) and Professor Matilda Steiner-Asiedu (Department of Nutrition and Food Science – University of Ghana).
Others include Professor Gifty Gyamah-Nyanteh (Department of Physiotherapy – University of Ghana), Dr. Margaret Amankwah Poku (Hall Administration – University of Ghana), Dr. Mark Frimpong (Health Services Directorate), Dr. Emmanuel Assasie ( Department of PESS – University of Ghana), Abdul Majeed Bawa – National Sports Authority, Lydia Anowa Nyako-Danquah (Academic Affairs Directorate – University of Ghana) and Anthony Awotwe-Bosumafi ( West/Central Africa Perffeti Van Melle).
The rest are Michael Ntow Ayeh (Physical Education and Sports Unit of the Ghana Education Service), Emmanuel Nketia (Students Sports Council – University of Ghana), Henry Nii Sackey – Head of Technical (University of Ghana) and Augustine Amissare – Secretary.
The Board is expected to develop an all-encompassing strategy that represents a turning in the institutions sporting environment that would lead the best way for the future where sports is celebrated.
