BWOGI: It’s my biggest payday

Uganda’s promising pro boxer, Shadiri Bwogi may have lost his five-round middleweight bout to Uzbekistan’s Odiljon Aslonov but he leaves Russia laughing all the way to the bank for what is his fattest paycheque so far since turning professional last year.

Bwogi (5-1-0, 3 KOs) lost on points to a seemingly heavier boxer but he gritted his teeth to complete the course in the colourful and well organised IBA Champions Night card on August 26 in Serpukhov, Russia.

“I did my best, and to me it was another learning experience. The guy was big, I hit him but he doesn’t move. I thank the IBA for inviting me, I’m ready for more invitations,” the Ugandan said.

Bwogi returns to the land of Matoke $10,000 richer. He’s missing Katogo.

“It’s my biggest ever payday in pro boxing, I’m excited. I will use the money for training and invest too in my own small way. Rome was not built in a day,” he stated.
