In a crossroads junior welterweight bout, Richardson Hitchins (17-0, 7 KOs) easily outboxed Jose Zepeda (37-4, 28 KOs) over twelve rounds for a unanimous decision win. (photos by Ed Mulholland)
The scores were 120-108, 120-108 and 119-109.
The first three rounds saw Hitchins being too fast and elusive for Zepeda, who was unable to get to the quick target. IN the fourth, the right eye of Zepeda was getting tagged from the jabs of Hitchins.
There wasn’t much of a change as the contest played out, with Hitchins just outboxing Zepeda. During the seventh, an elbow opened up a cut on top of the head of Zepeda. For most of the second half, Hitchins controlled the action with jabs and right hands. There wasn’t that Zepeda was able to do to change the tide of the fight and that forced him to take punches all fight.
