Coach Hughton takes ‘responsibility for Black Stars’ poor performance’

Black Stars head coach, Chris Hughton has apologised for Ghana’s disappointing output against the United States of America in an international friendly this week.

Ghana lost 4-0 to the USA at GEODIS Park in a calamitous outing Tuesday.

A Gio Reyna brace, Christian Pulisic penalty and Folarin Balogun’s sublime finish gave the States the most famous victory against the Black Stars in Nashville, Tennessee.

“I’m very sorry, and I take responsibility for the poor performance against the USA,” Hughton said.

The Black Stars lost 0-2 to Mexico in a similar friendly at the Bank of America stadium in Charlotte, North Carolina three days earlier.

Ghana will play Madagascar and Comoros in two FIFA World Cup qualifiers in November.
