University of Ghana Stadium to host 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 tournament May 15-29

The University of Ghana Sports Stadium will host the 2024 WAFU Zone B U-17 tournament, which will be staged in Accra from May 15-29, 2024.

The WAFU Zone B U17 tournament serves as the qualifying pathway for the 2024 TotalEnergies U17 Africa Cup of Nations.

This year’s edition will feature Ghana’s Black Starlets, Cote D’Ivoire and Benin in Group A with Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Niger and Togo making up Group B.

Training pitches selected for the teams to prepare for their matches include the Athletics Oval field, the Mensah Sarbah field, and The Union Ghana Soccer field, all located at the University of Ghana.

The newly built University of Ghana Stadium was commissioned on March 2, 2024, and hosted two matches of the Africa Games Men’s Football tournament staged in Accra two months ago.

It is anticipated that football enthusiasts living in around the University of Ghana and nearby suburbs such as Okponglo, Madina, Haatso, East Legon, Bawaleshie and Achimota, amongst others, would throng the stadium to witness what promises to be an exciting tournament.
