Countdown to Paris 2024 Olympic Games: Mali’s Fatou also gets wild card

Mali’s 2019 African Games featherweight silver medallist Marine Fatoumata Camara (pictured) has also been allocated the universality slot by the Olympic Games Tripartite Commission.

Breaking the good news to AFBC Communications, Fatou is over the moon.

“I’m so happy and excited, I didn’t just know how to respond when my federation shared the info,” Fatou told me in a phone chat from Lisbon where she trains at the Privilegio Boxing Club under coach Bruno Carvalho.

“I feel I’m on top of the world, I’ve joined my clubmate David Pina who has also qualified,” said Fatou.

Fatou, Cape Verde’s Ivanusa Moreira and Zambia’s Margret Tembo are so far the beneficiaries of the wild card, bringing to 23 the number of African boxers heading to Paris.
