The second week of Copa America 2024 left some surprises, and some confirmations.
REVELATION
Once seen as South America’s Cinderella, Venezuela are now the tournament’s revelation. They have qualified to the quarterfinals with three straight victories, topping their Group for the first time in their history, and pushing Mexico out of the final phase. Their manager is Argentinian Fernando Batista, younger brother of Sergio Batista, who coached Argentina in 2011 and is now FVF secretary general.
