Following a successful 2022 edition in England, with a record-breaking 574,875 total match attendance, UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 aims to set a new global benchmark for international women’s sporting events.
Sixteen teams will play a total of 31 matches in eight host cities throughout Switzerland from 2 to 27 July 2025, culminating in the crowning of Europe’s best women’s national team.
Today, with one year to go, the host cities have begun celebrating this important milestone and will continue to mark the occasion with various activities and events throughout the week.
England are defending champions
A ticket launch event will take place on 1 October at one of Switzerland’s most famous mountain peaks, the Jungfraujoch, which features Europe’s highest-altitude railway station at 3,454 metres above sea level. This location perfectly highlights the tournament’s narrative, ‘The Summit of Emotions’, evoking the pinnacle of European competitive sport, while paying tribute to Switzerland’s stunning mountain landscape.
Ticket prices for group stage matches will range from CHF 25 to CHF 40. A category 3 ticket for the opening match featuring Switzerland or the final will be available from CHF 30, and a category 1 ticket for CHF 90. Both matches will be held at St. Jakob-Park in Basel, Switzerland’s largest stadium with a gross capacity of 37,500. Switzerland will play the two remaining group stage matches in Bern and Geneva.
The exact price breakdown can be found here. Fans are encouraged to register before ticket sales commence, to facilitate the purchasing process. The official ticket sales will work on a first-come, first-served basis in a seamless purchasing process.
Free public transport for women’s EURO ticket holders
Travelling by train and public transport will be the most convenient and sustainable option for getting around during the event. Ticket holders traveling within Switzerland will enjoy free public transport.
On the matchday, match tickets will be valid for a second-class return journey from any Swiss locality to the match venue.
A family of four (two adults and two children) will be able to travel and watch some of the world’s best players from CHF 100.

Lia Wälti appointed tournament ambassador:
To promote the tournament, current Swiss national team captain and Arsenal player Lia Wälti has been announced as the first ambassador of UEFA Women’s EURO 2025.
Nadine Kessler added, “We are delighted to have secured Lia Wälti as one of our first tournament ambassadors. Lia is not only a Swiss footballing legend with an outstanding international career, but also a great personality and role model who cares about leaving a lasting legacy for future generations.”
Wälti said: “Competing in UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in my home country is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. The Swiss national team is eagerly anticipating the summer of 2025. Our goal is to perform at our best and help make this tournament a nationwide celebration. To achieve this, we need to start building awareness and engaging with our local communities now. We aim to deliver an outstanding performance on the pitch and share our joy and excitement with the crowd.”
Final draw to take place on 16 December
The final draw will take place on 16 December. Hosts Switzerland will be joined in the final tournament by eight teams that progress directly from the women’s European Qualifiers league stage and seven further play-off winners
