Countdown to 2024 Paris Olympic Games: Mardi leads Morocco

Morocco’s team of three boxers and two coaches is airborne now heading to Paris for the training camp ahead of the Games.

World and undisputed Africa heavyweight champion Khadija Mardi leads the team. The other two boxers are world bronze medallist and Africa champion Yasmine Mouttaki and African Games as well as African Elite Championships queen Widad Bertal. Coaches are Achik Abdelhak and Srour Youssef.

Before leaving for Paris, Morocco, the reigning African champions, pitched camp in Casablanca, training at Centre D’Accueil Bourgogne.

Morocco have so far won four bronze medals in the Olympic Games through featherweight Abdelhak Achik at the 1988 Seoul Olympics, and second bronze came via his brother Mohammed Achik at the 1992 Barcelona Olympics, featherweight Tahar Tamsamani 2000 Sydney Olympics and welterweight Mohamed Rabii in Rio 2016.
