Hearts to play Heart of Lions in Gbese Mantse Homowo Peace Charity Cup

Accra Hearts of Oak have confirmed their participation in the upcoming Homowo Cup against Heart of Lions, scheduled to take place at the Accra Sports Stadium on August 11.

The team announced their involvement via their official X social media handle, stating, “Invitation received and accepted for the Gbese Mantse Homowo Cup set to kick off on August 11, 2024, at the Accra Sports Stadium.”

The match, organised by the Gbese Mantse, His Royal Majesty Nii Dr Ayi Bonte XI, aims to promote peace and charity.

The event is expected to be a thrilling encounter between the two rivals, offering fans an exciting prelude to the upcoming Premier League season.

The organising committee has extended an invitation to corporate bodies, groups and individuals to support the event.

For Accra Hearts of Oak, this game presents an opportunity to claim their first silverware ahead of the new season, especially after their recent loss to arch-rivals, Asante Kotoko, in the Democracy Cup.

On the other hand, Heart of Lions, who have yet to secure any major titles in the elite league, will look to use this match to demonstrate their readiness to compete for honours in the forthcoming season.

Both teams are expected to field strong squads, making this a highly anticipated fixture for fans and a critical test for the players as they gear up for the competitive challenges ahead.
