‘This is just a set up to tarnish my image’ – Cynthia Ogunsemilore denies doping

As the rain starts beating the African boxers, gloom descended the Nigerian camp when it became known officially that Cynthia Ogunsemilore’s Olympic dream is finally shattered.

Any hopes the Nigerian officials had been nursing their boxer would be reinstated after being suspended for a doping offence went up in smoke.

It’s a vicious body blow for the young talented ambitious boxer who was among Africa’s medal prospects in Paris.

Now they have no choice but to take cover as the knee-dip rain is getting heavier by the day for the African boxers in Paris.

Taipei’s 2022 Asian Games champion, Wu Shi-yi, who was to meet the Nigerian boxer in the last 16 has now qualified for the quarter-finals without throwing a punch for a date with Ecuador’s Maria Jose Espinoza on Wednesday, July 31.
