The President of the Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC) l, Eyassu Wossen Berhanu has congratulated Africa’s four quarter-finalists so far in the Paris Olympics.

“Bravo! I’m thrilled by your awesome job in Paris our great boxers. A round of applause from me as AFBC President and the rest of my team,” Berhanu said.

Cape Verde’s David Pina also won on Tuesday and will meet Patrick Chinyemba of Zambia in an all-African quarter final

“Your strategic brilliance in outsmarting your opponents was remarkable.

“Africa is proud of our four quarter-finalists, Morocco’s 🇲🇦 world heavyweight champion Khadija Mardi and her compatriot who’s the reigning Africa Games bantamweight champion Widad Bertal, our flyweight ring genius and Africa champion Patrick Chinyemba from Zambia and Cape Verde’s stylish flyweight David Pina who also did Africa proud in Thailand.

“We expect more boxers from Africa in the quarter-finals.

“My humble request to you all in Paris make Africa proud by winning more medals including gold. Just believe in yourselves you’ll make it.

“For those of you who have lost, we hail your courage, passion and determination for being in the ring to fight for Africa. That in itself is an achievement and take note you’re now known as Olympians, indeed a big honour to be an Olympian. A virtual pat on the for your bravery all our African boxers in Paris.”
