Ken Adade named chairman of 49th SWAG Awards Nomination Committee

Ghanaian Sports Journalist, Mr Kenneth Odeng Adade, has been named the Chairman for the 49th edition of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Awards Nomination Committee.

The Nomination Committee comprises experienced sports journalists, industry experts, and respected personalities who will meticulously review and nominate outstanding achievers in various sports categories, including football, athletics, boxing, tennis, and more.

The committee’s expertise and passion for sports excellence will ensure a thorough and transparent nomination process, recognizing the most deserving athletes, coaches, and sports personalities.

The Chairman, who is also an editor at the Ghana News Agency and with expertise in least financed sports, will lead a seven-member committee to nominate deserving athletes and officials that excelled in the 2024 sporting calendar.

Mr Adade holds a Masters degree in Global Sport Management from Seoul National University in South Korea and has worked with various sports federations and organisations including the Ghana Olympic Committee, Armwrestling, Badminton, Cricket, Field Hockey, Weightlifting, Golf, just to mention a few.

Ken, as he is widely known in the sports media would be assisted by Mr Maurice Quansah – Member, Ms Matilda Dimedo – Secretary, Mr Gabriel Obu – Member, Mr Bright Yeboah Taylor – Member, Mr Yaw Kyei Baffour – Member, and Mr Mohammed Shaban – Member.

President of SWAG, Kwabena Yeboah said, “we are delighted to assemble this committee, comprising distinguished individuals who share our passion for sports excellence.

“Their expertise will ensure a comprehensive and impartial nomination process, reflecting the best of Ghanaian sports. We are confident that their efforts will result in a well-deserving list of nominees for the 49th SWAG Awards.”

The SWAG President emphasized the significance of the nomination process, stating, “The SWAG Awards have been a benchmark for sports excellence in Ghana for nearly five decades.

“We are committed to maintaining the highest standards, and this nomination committee will play a crucial role in ensuring the integrity and credibility of the awards.”

The committee will officially begin their work on Tuesday, September 3, 2024 and the nominees will be announced in December ahead of the awards ceremony scheduled for January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
