SWAG name panel to decide Sports Journalist of the year award

The Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) are pleased to announce the formation of the 2024 SWAG Sports Journalist of the Year Award Panel, a distinguished group of experts tasked with recognising and rewarding excellence in sports journalism.

The Award Panel comprises experienced media professionals, sports industry experts, and academics who will meticulously review and evaluate entries from sports journalists across Ghana.

Their expertise will ensure a thorough and transparent process, honoring outstanding work.

“We are delighted to assemble this esteemed panel, comprising individuals who share our passion for sports journalism excellence,” said Kwabena Yeboah, SWAG President.

“Their expertise will ensure a comprehensive and impartial evaluation process, recognising the most deserving sports journalists.”

The SWAG Sports Journalist Award Panel members are:

• Evelyn Nsiah Asare – Chairperson
• Michael Oti Adjei – Member
• Rosalind Koramah Amoh – Member
• Nathaniel Laryea – Member
• Charles Kwadwo Ntim – Member
• Joseph Oti Asirifi Mensah – Secretary
• Owuraku Nsiah – Member

The panel will review entries based on criteria such as creativity, research, writing quality, and impact. The winner will be announced at the 49th SWAG Awards ceremony, scheduled for January 24, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre..

The SWAG President, Kwabena Yeboah emphasised the significance of recognising sports journalism excellence, stating, “Sports journalists play a vital role in promoting sports in Ghana. This award panel will ensure that
their outstanding work is acknowledged and celebrated.”
