Shiatse Boxing Promotions and Legacy Fight Promotions, two new boxing promotional outfits have been introduced at an impressive press conference held at the Treehouse Restaurant at Nyaniba, Estates, Labone on Friday.
Hon. Emmanuel Nii Okai Laryea, former MP for Amasaman who is CEO of Shiatse Promotions said they have come in at the right time to support the budding talents who have put Ashiedu Keteke, Odododiodoo and Ga Mashie on the map as the greatest contributors to boxing in Ghana.
He announced that they are billed to host the boxing community with the ‘Golden Hands’ fight night which is their debut, assuring fight fans of highly competitive bouts.
He mentioned Daniel Gorsh versus Ghislaine Vodounhessi form Benin for the WBO Africa bantamweight title as the headliner in addition to four other bouts on the undercard, plus two juvenile and 2 exhibition fights.
He assured of adequate security at Treehouse Restaurant, located inside Nyaniba Estates near Osu in Accra where the event will take place on September 14.
The President of the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA), Abraham Kotei Neequaye welcomed the new promotions syndicates into the boxing fraternity, pledging an unflinching support to raise the sport and produce more champions.
Samir Captan, WBO Africa representative in Ghana also congratulated the new outfits and advised them to identify and support quality boxers.
Former Ghana and UBO Africa champ, Daniel Selassie Gorsh promised to overcome the Beninois to win his third title belt and move up to world ranks.
“My dream and ambition is to become a world champion and we are on track. I thank my managers, trainers and gym mates at the Bronx Boxing Gym,” he expressed.
Coach Carl Lokko noted that they are ready to win to carry on the mission to hit the world stage.
Mr. Samuel Attipoe, manager of Ghislaine Vodounhessi said his boxer is also ready and the ring will decide.
Mr. Sawan Papa Nii Amoah of Legacy Promotions also indicated that they have entered into the business at the right time and hope to change the face of Ghana boxing with competitive and quality bouts.
“We are looking at the entertainment and business side of boxing and want everyone to enjoy an exciting and attractive sport,” he said.
On the under cards, Isaac ‘Zongo Fire’ Dowuona faces Emmanuel Nii Noi Mensah in a lightweight contest, Godson Amuzu clashes with Isaac Neequaye in a welterweight fray, Felix Nunoo meets Gideon Nortey in a super lightweight match while Ben Abbey fights Azumah Mohammed in another lightweight clash.
Tickets are priced at one hundred and fifty Ghana Cedis (Gh150) for popular stand and Gh500 (five hundred Ghana Cedis) for VIP and can be bought at Treehouse Restaurant. Ali Bar, Beergarden and Jamestown Coffee Shop.
