Frederick Semenu Duvour stood tallest when the dust settled on competition at the first MTN Invitational golf tournament of the year Saturday on the greens of Achimota in Accra.
Playing off handicap 12, Duvoir tallied 40 points to top men’s group A division, headline event of the one-day competition hosted by Ghana’s leader in telecommunications services to reward and fraternize with their cherished clients.
With mouthwatering prizes on offer in avalanches including trophies and valuable MTN products, Duvour was followed by Justin B.C. Butah in second place after totalling 38 points on the back of playing handicap 10 with 3rd place going to Solomon Allotey (37 points, handicap 10).
In men’s group B, Simran Oberoi emerged winner with 43 points off handicap 19, runner-up spot went to Walid Zoobi who shot 41 points for the day playing handicap 21, same as Kevin Amedoh who took third position on 38 points.
The women also had two categories which saw Vastie Amoafo-Yeboah clock 44 points playing with handicap 14 to win group A ahead of Catherine Fabbi, a handicap 13 player who tallied 38 points whereas Sheryl Afia Afari (handicap 28) and Marlene Tonyigah (30) finished first and 2nd in group B with 45 and 36 points respectively.
The seniors were not left out of the fun and competition as Chris Apau-Opong won the men’s division with 37 gross after playing on handicap 23, Hajia Zenabu Sulemana meanwhile topped the women’s category with a gross of 38 off handicap 22.
Auxiliary prizes were scooped by Simrai Oberoi (men) and Floria Hurtubise (ladies) for longest drive on hole 15 as well as Philip Paekes and Leticia Amponsah-Mensah for closest to the pin on hole 18.
