An Accra based Non-Governmental Organisation, All Purpose Foundation (APF) put smiles on the faces of some street kids, people with disability, the poor as well as the homeless in Accra this past Christmas in fulfilment of the outfit’s set goals.
Founded last year by Accra based sports journalist, Elizabeth A. Gyamfi, the non-profit making enterprise has a mission to offer a helping hand to the under-privileged in society. And APF have been quick off the mark, delivering on their venture just some few months into existence.
On Chrismas Eve and Day, December 24-25, 2024, All Purpose Foundation took to the streets of the capital and fed people at Kwame Nkrumah Circle, Ridge, Tema Station, Independence Square and Accra Sports Stadium.
In total, over five thousand (5,000) people deprived in various ways including the young, old, persons with disabilities and even mad (mentally challenged) people were fed across town, much to the surprise and gratitude of the beneficiaries.
“I believe there’s no better fulfilment in life than helping others and putting smiles on their faces, especially during Christmas,” said Elizabeth Gyamfi, CEO of All Purpose Foundation.
“There are many people in real need and together we can do even more. Every bit of kindness counts in a making a difference,” she added.
The number of homeless and street people desperate to receive the Christmas meal has so overwhelmed the organisers, that they are already planning to extend it to other parts of Ghana in what will now be an annual ritual.
It will automatically also increase the already ernomous costs involved in organising the initiative, but the organisers are steadfast in belief things can only get better.
“A very big thank you to all who donated, thanks for being a part of the mission to feed 5,000 street children. Your support has created a ripple effect of joy for lots of people,” Ms. Gyamfi noted.
“Your support, whether in cash or kind, keeps this initiative going strong. Together, we can make a difference, one plate at a time. Let’s keep spreading love, one act of kindness at a time,” she said.
