New Cocoa Board chief Randy Abbey begins work

Newly appointed Acting Chief Executive of the Ghana Cocoa Board (Cocobod), Dr. Ransford Amartey Abbey reported to duty for the first time on Tuesday by holding a significant meeting with executives of the Cocoa Coffee and Sheanut Farmers Association at Cocoa House in Accra.

During the engagement, Dr. Abbey shared his vision for the cocoa sector and expressed optimism for the future of the industry in this country.

He reassured farmers of the Board’s commitment to introducing and sustaining approved policies aimed at addressing pressing challenges while driving sustainable growth.

He further highlighted his administration’s resolve to place farmers first by prioritising their welfare and fostering stronger mutually beneficial relationships with them.

“All we will bring on board will be hard work and strong leadership to deliver on the President’s vision as long as the cocoa industry is concerned,” he later told Channel One TV.

“I had a meeting with cocoa farmers this morning and the President’s vision is to put the cocoa farmer at the centre of everything so we will engage more and we know where the problems are and we are going to turn things around,” he explained

Dr. Abbey who is a renowned former host of the ‘Good Morning Ghana’ show on Metro TV as well as an Executive Committee member of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has just assumed office following his appointment by President John Dramani Mahama earlier this month.

The experienced football administrator is also the President of Ghana Premier League side, Kpando Heart of Lions.
