Achimota Golf Club hosts PGA captain’s Prize tournament this week

Fifty professional golfers from various clubs throughout the country will converge at the Achimota Golf Club beginning this Wednesday, March 12 for the third edition of the PGA Captain’s prize tournament.

It will be the first time that the country’s premier golf club hosts this very championship which is staged to honour the captain of the PGA for his contributions.

Touching on the forthcoming competition in a chat with a section of the media at the venue in Achimota, the current captain of the PGA, John Mawuli Nyarko indicated that preparations have been done to ensure a successful three-day golf competition which will end on Friday.

He mentioned that some amateur golfers from different clubs will also play on the final day of the tournament and expect a competitive tournament especially from the leading professionals in the country.

Meanwhile the leadership of the host club in an interview on the competition noted that they decided to support the professionals since they play a vital role in the development of the sports.

They are therefore urging the golfers to train harder and maintain focus and discipline during and after the competition.

Captain of Achimota Golf Club, Emmanuel Quarcoo and Jan Vogel, who heads the managerial department of the club, said the club will continue to invest into the pros in the country since they form a major component of the sport.

Being the first PGA competition of the year, the organizers have managed to secure support from a number of firms including Frencia, Mainland hotel MDV, Tang Palace Hotel, Miccaso among others.
