EYW Impact Football Gala kicks off in Koforidua Thursday September 25

All is set for the maiden EYW Impact Football Gala which kicks off Thursday September 25 to Monday September 29, 2025 at the Methodist Astro Turf in Betom, Koforidua in the Eastern Region.

Hosted and fully funded by EYW Impact, the 5-day event is the brainchild of Eric Yeboah Wadie, Deputy Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) whose passion for youth empowerment and community development inspired such local initiative.

The football gala brings together nine vibrant teams representing various communities across the Eastern Region including Oguaa, Betom, Anlo Town, Srodae, Zongo, Nsukwao, Bonya and Trom, emphasizing the event’s purpose not just to showcase football talent but to most importantly, foster unity, discipline, youth engagement and nurturing grassroots talent.

Mouthwatering prize packages are also on offer for the winners as well as varying consolation prizes for all participating teams, celebrating both performance and participation.

“This tournament is not just about football, it is about hope, empowerment, and building community spirit. We’re using sports as a tool to create impact, inspire the youth, and offer them opportunities for growth,” Mr Wadie explained.

“We encourage families, football fans and community members to come out and show their support during the thrilling celebration of talent and unity,” he said.

“No one will leave empty-handed. Whether you’re on the pitch or cheering from the sidelines, there’s something in it for everyone.”
