Sports Ministry sets up committee to oversee Black Stars’ 2026 World Cup journey

The Ministry of Sports and Recreation has established a committee to oversee Ghana’s preparations for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup, following the Black Stars’ successful qualification.

The committee’s scope extends beyond solely football-related activities. Its mandate includes leveraging the World Cup to foster cultural exchange, economic growth, and diplomatic relationships.

It aims to position Ghana as a vibrant destination for tourism, trade, and international cooperation through strategic initiatives aligned with the event.

According to its Terms of Reference, the committee will handle all logistical, financial, and administrative arrangements necessary for the team’s preparation and participation.

Additionally, it will promote Ghana’s image globally by orchestrating cultural, trade, and bilateral activities to maximize the tournament’s benefits for the nation.

Key objectives focus on ensuring widespread national involvement, enhancing team performance, and showcasing Ghana’s economic and tourism potential.

The committee will also work to strengthen international relations and direct sports investments to boost the country’s sporting infrastructure and global standing.

Led by Sports Minister Kofi Adams, the committee includes senior officials from various ministries, the Ghana Football Association, and private sector representatives.
