Accra, Ghana — 2025

In a groundbreaking moment for sports media in Ghana, Ebenezer Nii Otoe Bruce-Tagoe, founder of Twenty-Nine Photo Studio, has become the first and only sports photographer to be nominated and shortlisted for the prestigious Sports Writers Association of Ghana (SWAG) Journalist of the Year Award since its inception.

This historic recognition marks a significant shift in the appreciation of visual storytelling within Ghana’s sports journalism landscape. Traditionally dominated by writers and broadcasters, the inclusion of a photographer at this level highlights the growing influence and importance of sports imagery in shaping narratives and preserving iconic moments.

Ebenezer’s work, known for its intensity, emotion, and storytelling depth, has captured defining moments across multiple sporting disciplines, positioning him as a leading force in African sports photography.

Speaking on the milestone, industry observers describe the nomination as “a breakthrough moment that elevates sports photography to its rightful place in journalism.”

Through Twenty-Nine Photo Studio, Ebenezer continues to push boundaries, inspire a new generation of creatives, and project Ghana’s sporting excellence onto the global stage.
