The KGL Foundation took center stage as the primary sponsor of this year’s Tema Farmers’ Day Tennis Tournament, organized by the Premier Tennis Club in Tema. This event marked the celebration of the 41st National Farmers Day, dedicated to honoring the hard work and contributions of farmers across Ghana.
For over five years, this tournament has brought together tennis clubs in spirited competition, featuring four clubs this year: Tema Premier Tennis Club, Koforidua Sports Club, Burma Camp Tennis Club, and Sakumono Tennis Club.
Edwin Osmond-Lamptey, Public Relations Officer of the KGL Foundation, expressed the organization’s commitment to supporting community development and enhancing the sport in Ghana. He stated, “As a Foundation, we are deeply invested in uplifting underserved Ghanaians, helping them realize their full potential. Our collaboration with the Premier Tennis Club reflects our dedication to impacting lives through initiatives like the Tema Farmers’ Day Tennis Tournament. We’ve been involved for the past four years and have witnessed how it merges sports with community growth. By supporting events like this, we also get to celebrate the farmers who nourish us.”
Looking ahead, Mr. Osmond-Lamptey envisions a bright future for the tournament. “We hope to see this evolve into a prestigious event, akin to Wimbledon. Our aim is for this tournament to serve as a launchpad for participants to achieve greater heights in their tennis careers.”
As a vital arm of the KGL Group, the KGL Foundation is dedicated to working within underserved communities across all 16 regions of Ghana, providing essential support in healthcare, education, youth development, sports, and arts & culture. The Foundation’s efforts exemplify the true spirit of philanthropy and community engagement, making a lasting impact on the lives of many.
